Cocktails on ice

Ice storms be damned! There's booze that needed drinkin'!

The latest installment of our popular Corktown Craft Cocktail Tour appeared to be in jeopardy when, the night before, the Detroit area got a pretty thorough (and slippery) coating of ice all over itself. But thanks to the conscientious shop owners and restaurateurs of Cocktown, the sidewalks were salted, the ice inconsequential, and the drinks deeelicious.

Our guests can't get enough of Two James spirits and that fount of knowledge they call "Bob"

We began our tour (as we are wont to do) at Two James Spirits, where our always affable and informative host Bob did nothing but reinforce Two James reputation and esteem by letting the guests glimpse where the magic is made. Then he let them sample the magic for themselves. Needless to say, Bob is very popular on our tours.

After some serious sampling of spirits, the guests were led along Michigan Ave., past the Michigan Central Station and Roosevelt Park to The Sugar House, Detroit's cocktail bar extraordinaire. Our host, Tony, cordially tended to the guests' every need, providing the type of exceptional cocktails that put Sugar House on Esquire Magazine's list of the top bars in America. Add a few orders of truffle oil popcorn and it was hard to pry the guests away from the warmth and conviviality of our second stop.

Such a timeless speakeasy feel at The Sugar House made a raid seem inevitable.

The sun was beginning to fade and the wind was picking up, but our tour guests were undaunted. And thank goodness for that, because Bobcat Bonnie's Gastropub provided the perfect finale to the day's tour. Warmly welcomed by Miles and his crew, Bobcat Bonnie's signature cocktails and tasty food menu were just the ticket for our guests' eager palates. Comfortable and welcoming, Bonnie's never fails to make us feel at home.

Smiling guests are a staple of our tour stops at Bobcat Bonnie's

As always, all of us on the tour appreciated the outstanding hospitality and top-notch service provided by our tour partners. Our thanks to Two James, Sugar House, and Bobcat Bonnie's for a fun tour and a memorable day.
